What's new? Weekly art-climate overview

The art market is expected to keep getting stronger for the next 6 months as the latest Contemporary Art Market Confidence Report came up with a reading at 91, higher than the 76 from last July. Which makes it the highest outcome since June 2011. Considering the pandemic restrictions are easing back into normality, so is the art world.

Printmaking! A medium that increased in production since the pandemic started, contrary to other art mediums. Benefiting from this rise in favoritism, artists like Picasso, Basquiat, Warhol, Murakami, Nara, Banksy, and Kaws are in luck since they all have a vast amount of prints that can be sold and resold with more ease and efficiency. Auction houses are also giving immense importance to printmaking, making the medium’s sales rise like never before. With that, we notice a preference for Modern and contemporary pieces over more seasoned ones. Surpassing Warhol’s Flowers, Banksy achieved a new personal record with Girl with Balloon getting $2,8 million in bids.
